Every horse expresses imbalance somewhere.

Sometimes it presents physically — tension, asymmetry, resistance.

Sometimes emotionally — shutdown, reactivity, vigilance.

Sometimes relationally — subtle withdrawal, hesitation, over-compliance.

Sometimes environmentally — overstimulation, confinement, lack of choice.

When soundness shifts in one area, the whole system compensates. And most of us were never taught how to see that system.

The challenge is not caring enough.

The challenge is recognising where soundness is asking to be restored.

Without a coherent structure, we respond to symptoms.

We work on training when the issue is physical soundness.
We correct behaviour when emotional soundness is compromised.
We add pressure when environmental soundness is lacking.

And slowly, without meaning to, we fragment the whole.

Foundations of Soundness is built to reverse that fragmentation.

It offers a structured way of assessing and restoring soundness across the full lived experience of your horse.

The Architecture of Soundness

At the centre of this immersion are the 6 Pillars of Soundness™:

Physical — the body and its compensations
Mental — cognitive load and learning clarity
Emotional — regulation, recovery and overwhelm
Social — relational dynamics and herd influence
Spiritual — meaning, congruence and spark
Environmental — management, space and sensory input

These pillars describe the foundations of sustainable, integrated soundness.

They do not function independently.

They inform one another.

When one pillar loses balance, the others adjust in response.

When we learn to assess soundness across these pillars, we stop guessing.

We begin to recognise what is primary.

We restore balance with intention instead of urgency.

This is not about perfection.

It is about returning to soundness again and again.

How We Work With Each Pillar

Each pillar is explored through both theory and application.

You will understand the principles that underpin soundness within that domain.

And you will learn how to assess and apply them with your own horse.

Within the Physical Pillar, you will learn a structured massage and assessment rundown designed to help you recognise patterns of tension, asymmetry and compensation — deepening your literacy in how the body communicates before breakdown occurs.

Within the Emotional and Social Pillars, we examine how relational safety, herd dynamics, autonomy and lived experience shape behavioural expression — and how to distinguish between expression that signals distress and expression that signals capacity.

The Mental Pillar explores cognitive load, learning clarity and processing capacity — including how to recognise confusion versus resistance and adjust your training accordingly.

The Environmental Pillar addresses management, space, rhythm and sensory input — helping you identify when environment, routine or restriction are contributing to imbalance.

The Spiritual Pillar speaks to coherence — the layer of meaning, congruence and alignment within the partnership — and how ambition, intention and capacity must match for soundness to remain intact.

Each pillar strengthens soundness in its domain.

The weaving of them restores wholeness.

What Will Change

By the end of these 12 weeks, you will not simply “know more.”

You will:

• Recognise where soundness is compromised before behaviour escalates
• Identify which pillar is asking for attention
• Distinguish between physical discomfort and emotional overwhelm
• Adjust one variable intentionally instead of five reactively
• Stay steady when something feels unclear
• Trust your perception without outsourcing it

In practice, this means:

When your horse reacts, you do not spiral.

When something feels off, you know where to look first.

When advice comes from outside, you filter it instead of absorbing it.

When progress feels slow, you remain grounded instead of overriding the process.

You become the steady point that supports soundness in the relationship.

And when soundness is supported, regulation follows.

That is why this works.

Not because it forces change.

But because it restores balance at the root.

The Experience

Foundations of Soundness is a 12-week structured immersion.

It is expansive, but grounded in architecture.
Held, but not restrictive.
Deep, but practical.

You receive:

• Theory and application for each of the 6 Pillars of Soundness™
• A guided physical massage and assessment rundown
• Structured integration prompts
• Real-life case breakdowns
• 1 live integration call per month
• Access to replays of all calls
• Ongoing access to future community calls
• Lifetime access to the evolving curriculum

Soundness is not restored in a single moment.

It is maintained through understanding.

This immersion gives you that understanding.

The Shift

There is something profoundly relieving about understanding your horse at this level.

The constant mental noise quiets.

The urgency to fix softens.

The subtle fear of getting it wrong loosens its grip.

You begin to look at your horse and feel steadiness instead of doubt.

You recognise where soundness is asking to be restored.

You know where to begin.

And in that clarity, something settles — in you and in your horse.

By the end of these twelve weeks, I want you driving home from the yard thinking:

“I know my horse.”

And beneath that:

“I trust myself.”

Not because someone gave you permission.

But because you have built the literacy to see clearly.

That is empowerment without ego.
Relief without avoidance.
Being seen without being analysed.

That is soundness restored.

Is This For You?

This immersion is for you if:

– You are tired of guessing and want a coherent way to assess what is primary
– You sense your horse is expressing more than surface behaviour
– You value ethical, systemic thinking over quick fixes
– You want structure without rigidity
– You are willing to work through complexity instead of overriding it.
– You want to build long-term soundness, not temporary compliance

This is not for those seeking shortcuts.

It is for those ready to build capacity.

What Others Say

Alysen & Sophie

The session I had with Steffi was eye-opening! She picked up on so many subtle nuances in my mare’s behaviour that I was missing. I’m grateful for this new awareness! I now feel equipped to notice these signals before they escalate and potentially manifest into other behaviours. The session helped me reshape our training in a way that supports her nervous system for better and quicker regulation. Since practicing the exercises, I’ve noticed a huge shift in her ability to quickly return to a calm state during moments of stress. Steffi is kind and grounded; I felt comfortable, safe, and supported during our session, which also positively impacted my own nervous system in connection with my horse. She is an expert at the forefront of guiding humans into deeper connections with their horses, utilizing science and pioneering techniques focused on nervous system regulation for both humans and horses.

Clare & Cyrus

Building connection and relationships with our horses is a journey, with ups and downs (mainly ups of course), and constantly worrying whether we’re doing it right. Well, that’s the case for me! Steffi really helped me be more confident with what I was doing. Her empathetic, knowledgeable, horse first approach really called out to me. After chatting things through I felt more confident to do what I felt was right. And low and behold, progress. Thanks Steffi!

Jasmin & Luxi

Luxi was trained by Steffi for 8 weeks. Her loving and respectful treatment was great and very important to me. She responded completely to him and was able to teach him how to be ridden - all at his own pace. She taught me to listen to Luxi and how to work with him. I thought it was so great that I was allowed to be there at any time and could work with her or just even watch her train him. He has become much more confident in training now and loves to work with me.

Svea & Cosi

"I grew up with horses, but the way I looked at them started to change when I met Steffi. I learned how to perceive them holistically – which to me means being able to see their emotional and physical needs clearly, whilst also questioning myself in this context. It helped me to observe Steffi and the way she is showing up for and with her horses and the way she treats them. Her clarity with her own horses was something I was able to take and use for myself."

Yuna & Dionys

Hannah

This workshop was excellent! I absolutely loved every second of it. Steffi is so knowledgeable and shared that knowledge in a way that is easy to understand and follow. I am always looking for more workshops/webinars/courses to take and this is one of the best ones I have ever done. 10/10 would recommend it for anyone, even if you're not a horse enthusiast. Absolutely AMAZING experience!

Svenja & Ginny

Svea & Fiete

Steffi always looks at each individual horse in a holistic way, where ego plays no role. She is great at finding out who the horse is, what they need, where they are at in their own unique system and what else is part of that. She has this meta view on the horse and then she looks at the human and asks those same questions in order to bring them together on a much deeper level.
