Every horse expresses imbalance somewhere. The question is whether you can see where it actually begins.

You’re trying to do right by your horse.

But something doesn’t fully make sense.

They react, resist, shut down—or don’t progress the way you expected.

And despite everything you’ve learned,
you’re still second-guessing what’s actually going on.

Behaviour is rarely the starting point.

It’s the visible expression of something happening deeper in the system.

When soundness shifts in one area, the whole system compensates.

Without a coherent structure, you end up responding to what is loudest.

Foundations of Soundness is built to reverse that fragmentation.

It gives you a structured way to assess and restore soundness across your horse’s whole system.

Using the Six Pillars of Soundness™, you learn to identify what is primary—and what to change first.

What you get inside Foundations of Soundness:

  • A clear way to assess what is actually happening in your horse

  • Guided application directly with your own horse

  • Real-life case breakdowns and decision-making processes

  • Monthly live integration calls

  • Access to a private community space

  • Lifetime access to the full curriculum

By the End of this Programme

You will be able to:

  • see what others miss in your horse’s behaviour
  • identify what is actually driving what you’re experiencing
  • stop changing five things at once
  • make clear, grounded decisions
  • build real soundness—not surface-level fixes

In practice, this means:

When your horse reacts, you don’t spiral or rush to fix.

When something feels off, you know where to look first.

When advice comes from outside, you filter it instead of absorbing it.

When progress feels slow, you remain grounded instead of overriding the process.

You become the steady point your horse can organise around.

Inside Foundations of Soundness

Phase 1 — Seeing Clearly
Learn to distinguish signal, symptom, and story

Phase 2 — Understanding the System
See how the six pillars interact and influence each other

Phase 3 — Applying & Creating Change
Know what to adjust—and how to work with your horse differently

The Architecture of Soundness

At the centre of this immersion are the 6 Pillars of Soundness™:

Physical — the body and its compensations
Mental — cognitive load and learning clarity
Emotional — regulation, recovery and overwhelm
Social — relational dynamics and herd influence
Spiritual — meaning, congruence and spark
Environmental — management, space and sensory input

The Experience

Inside Foundations of Soundness, you receive:

  • Theory and application across all six pillars
  • A guided physical assessment and massage walkthrough
  • Real-life case breakdowns
  • Monthly live calls and replays
  • Access to the private community space
  • Lifetime access

You don’t need more information. You need a way to work with it clearly. This is not about doing more. It’s about finally knowing what matters.

This is for you if:

  • you are tired of guessing and want a clear way to assess what is primary
  • you sense your horse is expressing more than surface behaviour
  • you value systemic, ethical thinking over quick fixes
  • you want structure without rigidity
  • you are willing to work with complexity instead of overriding it

This is not for you if:

  • you are looking for shortcuts
  • you want quick fixes without understanding
  • you are not willing to question what you’ve been taught

The Shift

There is something profoundly relieving about understanding your horse at this level.

The constant mental noise quiets.

The urgency to fix everything softens.

The fear of getting it wrong loosens its grip.

You begin to look at your horse and feel steadiness instead of doubt.

You recognise where soundness is asking to be restored.

You know where to begin.

And in that clarity, something settles — in you and in your horse.

By the end of these twelve weeks, I want you driving home from the yard thinking:

“I know my horse.”

And beneath that:

“I trust myself.”

Not because someone gave you permission.

But because you have built the literacy to see clearly.

THAT is soundness restored.

If this is familiar…

If you’ve been circling the same questions
and not finding clear answers…

If you’ve felt that something is missing
but couldn’t quite name it…

If you’re tired of second-guessing
and want a way to see clearly—

This is where that changes.

What happens after you join

You'll receive immediate access to the full curriculum and the private community space. Begin with Phase 1 and work through in sequence — each phase builds on the one before it, and the order is intentional.

While you settle in, head to the community and introduce yourself. Like-minded, like-hearted horse people from across the world are already there — and they'll be glad you arrived.

As you move through the programme, something begins to shift. You start to see your horse differently — not as a problem to solve, but as a system to understand. The questions that used to spiral become easier to hold. The decisions that used to feel impossible become clearer. And your horse, sensing that steadiness in you, begins to respond differently too.

The monthly live integration calls are where we bring all of it together — your horse, your specific situation, and what you're learning. All calls are recorded so you never miss a thing.

This is yours to move through with structure, support, and people around you who understand exactly why this matters.

Your Investment for Lifetime Access

Choose the plan that works for you. All options give you lifetime access to the full curriculum, live calls, and community.

What horse owners are experiencing

Svea & Cosi

"I grew up with horses, but the way I looked at them started to change when I met Steffi. I learned how to perceive them holistically — seeing their emotional and physical needs clearly, whilst also questioning myself in this context. Steffi's clarity with her own horses was something I was able to take and use for myself. I didn't know I was able to tune into my emotions whilst also interacting with horses. That never used to be an option before, but it changed everything."

Svea & Fiete

Steffi always looks at each individual horse in a holistic way, where ego plays no role. She is great at finding out who the horse is, what they need, where they are at in their own unique system and what else is part of that. She has this meta view on the horse and then she looks at the human and asks those same questions in order to bring them together on a much deeper level.

Miriam & Greta & Karlchen

"Steffi supported me during particularly challenging times with my two horses. She has an exceptional ability to guide processes while keeping both the human and the horse at the centre of her attention. Her deep understanding of the nervous system, equine body language, and her vast experience allow her to find individual and creative solutions for every situation — always in the best interest of the horse."

Nathalie

"With the help of Steffi I have gone from horse newbie to stable owner in just two years. The amount of empathy and knowledge she brought into our lives is incredible — and I will be forever grateful for all the eye-opening moments."

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to be an advanced rider?

No prior experience required. This immersion is about perception and discernment—not performance level. It will work for you no matter which level you are at.

  • What if I cannot attend live calls?

All calls are recorded and uploaded. You will not miss content.

  • How much time will this take?

Plan for 1–2 hours per week for video content and integration.

  • Is this only about physical soundness?

No. The physical pillar is one part of a six-pillar system. We work across physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual and environmental balance.

  • Is this suitable if my horse has trauma?

Yes. In fact, this structure was shaped through working with trauma-informed horses.

  • Do I get lifetime access?

Yes. You retain lifetime access to all content and call replays.

MSc Equine Science, ESMT Steffi Spielhaupter

I created Science for Soundness® because I kept seeing the same thing: horse owners who cared deeply, trying hard, and still feeling like something wasn't quite adding up. Not because they were doing it wrong. But because they were missing a coherent way to see the whole picture. I'm an Equine Scientist and Equine Sports and Massage Therapist. Horses have been part of my life since I was eleven years old — and since founding Science for Soundness® in 2014, I've dedicated that work to helping horse owners move beyond guessing and into genuine understanding. The Six Pillars of Soundness™ grew out of that work. Not as a theory, but as a living framework — shaped by real horses, real struggles, and the profound shifts that happen when you finally start seeing clearly. I live with my herd in northern Germany. They are my greatest teachers and the reason this work continues to evolve.
